Jul 10, 2018 –
Hats off to our grant committee for their hard work and dedication to our mission and to our grantees for their hard work and dedication to their cause.
Our 2018 grant cycle has closed. Time seems to fly by faster and faster every year. It seems like just yesterday we were announcing it’s opening. This year we received 91 grant proposals totaling $599,623 and we have a record distribution amount of $448,424 to award to grantees.
Every year, we turn down an average of 25% of the grant proposals we receive, because there are always more requests for money than we have in our grant pool. We want to remedy this issue by building up our grant pool in the next 3 years, so our Grant Committee will no longer have to turn down proposals for much needed programs and organizations in our communities.
Our grant program is funded with annual distributions from Unrestricted and Field of Interest Endowments and these funds help to support grant requests for: Catholic education, human services, capital improvement, faith formation, and historic preservation within the communities of the Archdiocese of Santa Fe.
If you would like to help us grow our grant pool by making a donation to an existing endowment or starting your own endowment, please visit our website thecatholicfoundation.org or call us at 505-872-2901.
Wondering who makes the decision of who receives a grant? It’s our Grant Committee made up of 11 awesome people who serve as Trustees on our board; and they have a lot on their plate, when it comes to making these difficult decisions. The arduous process of deciding the fate of each grant begins by reviewing the proposals using a scoring technique. Then the Committee meets and discusses the scores and receives feedback from the Program Manager to help with their evaluation process. When the Committee has made their final decisions, the process is complete and the grantees are notified and invited to our Grant Awards Luncheon, where we celebrate their effort and commitment to their cause.
As always, we are so grateful for our donors and benefactors who continue to support these funds, because without your generosity, we would not be able to help you help your Community.
