Our Mission

To advance the teachings of the Gospel by building financial resources for Catholic ministry and funding programs that are responsive to human needs.

About Us

The Catholic Foundation manages endowment funds designed to meet the philanthropic goals of donors as well as the needs of Catholic communities throughout the Archdiocese of Santa Fe. The funds reflect the desire of people and organizations to perpetuate the ministries and good works in these communities.

At The Catholic Foundation, we work with individuals to create giving plans that best serve both their charitable interests and their personal and financial circumstances. Gifts to The Catholic Foundation are invested in permanent endowment funds. Earnings from the endowments are used to provide critical financial support for programs that address social, economic, educational and spiritual needs throughout the Archdiocese of Santa Fe.

By encouraging charitable giving and funding programs that are responsive to human needs, The Catholic Foundation provides leadership and support for the ministry of charity in the Archdiocese of Santa Fe.

History

In 2011, The Catholic Foundation celebrated its twentieth anniversary! Inspired by faith – and the vision of a stronger, more vibrant future for the Church – The Catholic Foundation was formed in 1991 as one of the fruits of the Archdiocesan Pastoral Plan. Under the wise leadership of Michael Keleher and Ray Zimmer, community and Church leaders were brought together to build a charitable organization for endowed funds that would forever be a wellspring of financial support for Catholic ministry. In 1993, when Michael Sheehan became Archbishop of Santa Fe, he embraced the work of the Foundation and became our spiritual leader and advocate.

Thanks to the faithful and generous gifts of more than 1,000 donors, we have built nearly $36 million in endowment assets – making it possible for us to give over $10.6 million in grants and other distributions that are responsive to human needs. In 2011 alone, The Catholic Foundation is distributing $1,434,600 from the endowments and other charitable instruments.

On this special anniversary, we are recognizing the foresight and leadership of our founders by creating an endowment in their honor. The Founders Endowment will provide grants for the most pressing needs in our communities. We welcome everyone to join us in honoring our founders by making a gift to the Founders Endowment. Please contact Mary Dunn at (505) 872-2901, or mary@thecatholicfoundation.org, for more information.

Over these twenty years, we have been abundantly blessed with the grace of both giving and receiving, and we thank each and every one of you for allowing us into your lives.Together, we have accomplished twenty years of works from the heart. Together, let's celebrate both our history and our future!
