Any individual or institution can establish an endowment fund with The Catholic Foundation.  Often donors have a special reason or purpose for starting an endowment, and a fund can be tailored to fit their own personal charitable interests. Learn more about Endowments

Funds

The Catholic Foundation manages a variety of funds designed to meet the philanthropic goals of donors as well as the needs of Catholic communities throughout the Archdiocese of Santa Fe. The funds reflect the desire of people and organizations to perpetuate the ministries and good works in these communities.

Unrestricted Funds

Unrestricted endowments allow the Foundation optimum flexibility in responding to grant requests. They are funded by donors who wish to support the Foundation’s grant program, and whose charitable gifts are not restricted to a particular purpose. The grant program provides support to meet important parish, school or organization needs.

The designated endowments are created by donors wishing to support a particular organization, parish, school or ministry within the Archdiocese. Income from these funds is paid directly to the institutions named by the donors. (This is a sound way to provide perpetual support for a ministry or institution.)

Donor Advised Funds

Donor-advised endowments allow the donor to direct the distribution of income each year to the program, organization, parish or school of their choice.( Donor Advised funds are an efficient alternative to establishing a private foundation because the administrative costs are lower. There are also tax advantages.)

Agency Funds

Catholic organizations, schools and parishes establish endowments with the Foundation to ensure the continuation and growth of their ministries and programs for future years. The annual income distribution is paid directly to the donor institutions to be used at their own discretion. Preservation of endowment capital through sound investment practices provides a stable and enduring source of income for parishes, schools and organizations throughout the Archdiocese.

The Catholic Foundation also manages other endowment funds created by anonymous donors. Several are unrestricted endowments that allow the Foundation full discretion in selecting grant recipients. Others are field-of-interest funds with the income used for grants in areas selected by the donors.

In addition the Foundation manages Charitable Gift Annuities and Charitable Remainder Trusts for individuals and families.
